Welcome back to campus, Jags. To officially begin the new school year, Weeks of Welcome (WOW) is back to help you get acclimated, connect with resources and opportunities and showcase all that campus life has to offer. The full list of events spans over the first two weeks of classes. We've compiled 10 events below you won't want to miss.
1. WOW Kickoff and 43rd Annual Ice Cream Social
When: Monday, August 23
Where: Taylor Hall
Time: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
There’s no better way to start off your first day of school than with free ice cream. As one of IUPUI’s longest standing traditions, the Ice Cream Social is the place to be during WOW.
2. SAPB Presents: Tie-Dye Adventures
When: Tuesday, August 24
Where: Taylor Hall Courtyard
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Join the Student Activities Programming Board for an afternoon of free tie-dyeing. All you have to bring is yourself and a student ID. Free snacks will be provided.
3. IUPUI Spirit Day
When: Wednesday, August 25
Where: Tower Courtyard and the CROF
Time: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Stop by University Tower Courtyard to see the unveiling of the brand new Jaguar Statue at 11 a.m. The first 150 attendees will receive free items to celebrate this significant moment. Then continue the fun at the CROF with food trucks, music and a full afternoon filled with Jaguar pride.
4. Health and Wellness Fair
When: Thursday, August 26
Where: Campus Center
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
On-campus resources will be set up in the Campus Center Atrium (Level 1) and community resources will be set up in the TV Lounge (Lower Level) to provide information that promotes making healthy changes.
5. Student Involvement Expo
When: Thursday, August 26
Where: Taylor Hall Courtyard
Time: 12-4 p.m.
With hundreds of student organizations to join at IUPUI, you won’t want to miss out on the opportunity to make new connections. The Student Involvement Expo will be a place for you to learn more about campus life and meet students who may have the same interests as you.
6. IUPUI Volunteer Fair
When: Friday, August 27
Where: Campus Center
Time: 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The Volunteer Fair is the perfect opportunity to meet with nonprofit organizations to learn how you can get involved with the local Indianapolis community.
7. Cornhole Tournament
When: Saturday, August 28
Where: The CROF
Time: 1-4 p.m.
Grab your friends along with your best competition to take part in one of Indiana’s favorite games.
8. Canoe Paint It?
When: Monday, August 30
Where: Taylor Hall Courtyard
Time: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
With the Regatta right around the corner, create a personalized canoe or oar and learn about one of IUPUI’s favorite traditions.
9. Study Abroad Campus Road Trip
When: Tuesday, August 31
Where: Science and Engineering Laboratory Building
Time: 12-2 p.m.
If you love traveling and are interested in studying abroad, stop by the Study Abroad information tables located in the Science and Engineering Laboratory Building.
10. Jaguars Hunt
When: September 1-3
Where: Taylor Hall Courtyard
Time: 12-6 p.m.
Looking for a way to learn the ropes of campus? This scavenger hunt is the perfect way to get acclimated to not only campus, but the city of Indianapolis. Hosted by Jagathon, this hunt will allow you the opportunity to meet new people and learn about another campus tradition.
